Wall beds

Yes, our wall beds are high-quality and robust furniture designed for everyday use.

Yes, they must be fitted to the wall for safety and operational reasons.
Although some of our sofa wall beds are self-standing, we fit them to the wall too.

Indeed. In principle, they can. However, we will always assess each specific wall to ensure that it is structurally suitable.
We usually reinforce all partition plasterboard walls by fitting a 15mm-plywood board to the timbers or studs of the plasterboard wall so the force is evenly spread across the structural parts of the wall. Then, the wall bed is fastened to the plywood board in multiple fitting points.

As an additional safety measure, we commonly extend the furniture up to the ceiling (e.g., adding a top shelving unit or cupboard) featuring extra storage.

Our wall beds and sofa wall beds can be built with different depths: 35 cm, 45 cm, or 60 cm.
Units with 45 cm or 60 cm depth include internal shelves. The internal shelves can include an embedded LED light as an optional feature.

Custom-made unit depths can be considered.

Except for a few models (e.g., the single horizontal wall bed with desk), most of our wall beds are opened and closed by pulling or holding their legs. No handles are required.
However, handles can be added if desired. Have a look at our wide-handle collection in the Gallery Section.

Most of our products support all standard mattress dimensions, including singles (90x190cm and 90x200cm) and doubles (120x190cm, 135x190cm, 140x200cm, 150x200cm, and 160x200cm). We can also custom-make our wall beds and mattresses to non-standard dimensions (e.g., 105x190cm, 140x190cm, 135x200cm)

No, it’s not required. The high-pressure pistons keep our wall beds and sofa wall beds safely closed without the need for a lock.

Wall beds with integrated desks, though, are equipped with a lock to prevent unwanted opening while using the desk since, unknowingly, the user can add extra weight to the desk.

For the rest of the wall beds and sofa wall beds, although not required, locks can be optionally added if desired.

The standard minimum clearance (above the unit) is 6-8 cm to allow for placing the top board and its related cam lock bolts.
However, minimum installation clearance can be reduced to 2 cm when required (assessed on a project basis).
The ceiling gap can be filled with deco panels.

Wall beds can be built in a horizontal or vertical configuration for any UK standard mattress size. The depth of a wall bed unit can be 35 cm, 45 cm, or 60 cm. Custom depth is also possible.

For those who look for a compact home office, our wall bed with an integrated desk could be useful. The desk can be used during the day and is hidden underneath the bed when the bed is used.

Sofa-wall beds are our best-selling heroes, whether for a living room, a guest room, a teenager’s bedroom, or as you like. There are three types of sofa models that can be built with our wall beds. They can also be built with a vertical bed or a horizontal bed. Horizontal configurations allow for longer sofas (when space is not an issue, e.g., in a large living room), while vertical configurations consume less space while providing the advantages of a sofa (e.g., in a small studio or a child’s bedroom).

All our sofas are manufactured in the UK in compliance with all applicable UK regulations.

Indeed. Multiple options are available depending on the depth of the wall bed unit:
For units 35 cm deep, a surface-mounted corner LED lamp is available. It is installed at one or both inner corners of the wall bed.
For units 45 cm or 60 cm deep, an LED lamp is embedded in one or more of the internal shelves.

All LED lamps include an infrared sensor to switch on and off the light.
The surface-mounted corner LED lamp model has two light intensity modes: medium and high.
The shelf-embedded LED lamp model has two light types: warm light and white light.

Our wall beds have a 15mm recess between the rear board and the wall to allow for wiring routing. If behind the wall there are sockets or TV outlets you don’t need, they can be hidden behind the unit. If you intend to use those sockets, you should place them in a suitable area away from the wall where the furniture will be installed.

This work is recommended to be undertaken by a certified electrician before the installation date of the furniture, since our fitters cannot undertake electrical work.

Our wall beds and associated mechanisms are not designed to withstand additional weights on the front board. Unwanted opening could occur with potential material damages or personal injuries.

Kubbiko won’t be responsible or liable for damages or personal injuries due to modifications or improper use of the product.

Our wall beds and mattresses are built to accommodate reasonable bedding on the mattress. However, if the wall bed doesn’t fully close, there is a chance that you are exceeding the usable housing space. We recommend trying thinner bedding or a thinner pillow (or, if the pillow is too thick, removing it).

If this doesn’t solve the issue, please feel free to contact us. We will be happy to help.

Mattresses

Our memory foam mattresses are designed and exclusively manufactured to our wall bed specifications. With a five-year warranty, it features an optimised comfort-to-affordability ratio and has a washable CoolPlus cover.

All UK standard mattress dimensions are available, including singles (90x190cm and 90x200cm) and doubles (120x190cm, 135x190cm, 140x200cm, 150x200cm, and 160x200cm). We can also make mattresses to your specifications. Please

Please contact us if you have any enquiries.

We do also sell mattresses for traditional beds in any size. All our mattresses are manufactured in the UK in compliance with all applicable UK regulations.

Our wall beds and sofa wall beds have a usable room of up to 23 cm (even the shallowest wall bed, with a depth of unit of only 35 cm), and have been designed to provide equivalent sleeping comfort to a traditional bed and to be used on a daily basis as your main bed, children’s beds, or guests’ beds.

We have performed an optimisation assessment to identify the combination of mattress thickness and weight that best balances the 5 essential wall bed aspects: (1) safety, (2) sleeping experience, (3) room for bedding, (4) ease of use (open/close), and (5) lifetime of the wall bed mechanism.

(1) First and foremost, there is safety. Wall bed mechanisms (high-pressure pistons) are designed to withstand the weight of the bed frame, front board, and mattress (with some tolerance given for the bedding). For each bed type, the weight of the frame and front board are constant values, while the weight of the mattress will vary with mattress thickness and materials.

The heavier the mattress, the higher the rating of the mechanism required to let you lift and lower the bed easily, softly, and safely. If you temporarily remove the mattress (e.g., for cleaning), the bed may close forcefully if the mattress is too heavy, since the remainder of the weight (bed frame and front board) may be too light for the rating of the bed mechanism.

A suitable mattress weight range should be defined for wall beds and mattress sizes to mitigate safety risks.

(2) The sleeping experience is related to mattress thickness, quality of the material (filling and cover), and design. The new technologies and materials allow for a good sleeping experience without the need for traditional heavy and thick mattresses. Although sleeping comfort is a subjective matter, as a rule of thumb, having a top layer of soft material (e.g., viscoelastic or soft memory foam) with a medium-firm base pleases most users’ sleeping needs. Extremes (a mattress that is too soft or too hard) are generally disliked by the average user.

(3) When it comes to wall beds, it is critical to reserve adequate room for the bedding. For a given usable space (e.g., 23 cm for our wall beds), the thicker the mattress, the less space remains for the bedding.

(4) Ease of operation is also a very important factor to consider. When using light mattresses, the opening of the wall bed may be too slow, while when using heavy mattresses, it may be too abrupt. Too-heavy mattresses will potentially also lead to a heavier lifting experience. Mattress weight also impacts the ease of use experienced by the user.

(5) The heavier the mattress, the lower the lifetime of the wall bed mechanism since high-pressure pistons would be operating at the upper edge of their rating. With our recommended mattress weight range, the lifetime of the wall bed mechanism is expected to extend from 5 to 10 years (assuming a cycle per day, i.e., one open/close cycle per day). High-pressure pistons are cheap components to replace. They should be replaced by experienced personnel to prevent injuries or damage to the product.

As discussed above, a recommended weight range for each mattress size has been defined for our wall beds to balance the above weight factors.
In terms of mattress thickness, 18 cm has been identified as the optimal mattress thickness that best balances all five key factors discussed above, and is thus the thickness recommended for our wall beds.

Our memory mattress was created to meet our wall bed specifications using high-quality industry materials. Its weight is at the very centre of the recommended weight range, and its 18 cm optimised thickness is comprised of a 6 cm viscoelastic top layer, 12 cm medium-firm foam, and a 0.5 cm high quality Cool Plus cover with a zip for cleaning. High-quality foams are used to build our mattresses.

If you prefer purchasing a new mattress or using your own mattress, it is absolutely fine. We would give you advice and a weight range to stick to. As previously discussed, our wall beds can accommodate up to 23 cm of space.

Although our recommended thickness is 18 cm, if you prefer to compromise any of the other factors (e.g., safety, bedding room, ease of operation, lifetime) to prioritise thickness, that is absolutely fine.
However, we cannot accept responsibility or liability for the use of mattresses that do not meet our recommended weight and thickness ranges.

If the mattress has the recommended thickness (18 cm), it is likely that the bedding room has been exceeded (commonly due to the use of thick pillows and/or very thick duvets). We suggest troubleshooting by following the below steps to isolate the root of the issue:

1) Confirm that the wall bed fully closes with only the mattress (i.e., no bedding).
2) Add the bed sheet and confirm that it fully closes.
3) Add the duvet and do the check.
4) Add the pillow and do the check.

If you need further support, feel free to contact us.

What happens if damaged parts are discovered during installation as a result of transport?
After the installation, our fitters provide us with an installation report. Should there be any issues, they will be listed in the report, including supportive pictures. After reviewing the installation report, we would inform you about the issues and report them to our head office to order damaged parts or find a solution to sort it out as soon as possible.

Purchase Process

At Kubbiko, we are at your disposal in two ways: online video consultation or at our physical office showroom, where you will find a selection of our key products already set up so that you can see, try, and feel the end product and compare qualities.

Our team will handle everything, from completely personalised advice at our showroom to later preparation of a 3D design of your project to help you see the final result before purchasing, manufacturing, logistics, and delivery into your property, all the way up to installation.

Our service includes the following steps: initial request, design and quote, discussion, site visit, final design, order, manufacturing, delivery to property, and installation.

Site measurement, manufacturing, delivery to your property, and installation are included in the price.
All pre-purchasing technical advice and 3D design modelling are free of charge and without obligation.

For us, it is very important to know the space in which we are going to work, since we can find obstacles that make distribution difficult. As a result, in most cases, we require on-site measurements of the space as well as access verification. If you live in the south-east of England (London and the London Home Counties), one of our technicians can measure your home; if you live elsewhere, don’t worry; our team will advise you online so you don’t miss any millimeters.

We will not be responsible or liable for issues due to incorrect measurements provided by the customer.

Although our principal geographical segment is the south-east of England (including London, the Home Counties, and more), we supply and deliver all over the UK. For those remote domestic projects where we may not provide installation, suitable installation guidance will be provided to allow your project to come true. Installation would not be included in the price. Please contact our sales team for a service coverage consultation.

All parts are delivered flat-packed. You will be asked to confirm the number of items and if there is any visible damage or not, so it is very important to do a quick visual check and count the number of packages.

We will coordinate the delivery and the installation in advance to provide you with more visibility. The final installation date will be agreed upon once we know the delivery date is fully confirmed. If possible, we’d prefer to perform the installation on a Saturday and/or Sunday when it’s less busy and easier to park. Weekends also allow us to book the installation the same weekend as the delivery.

Timelines and Payments

Our furniture is manufactured upon order with the following usual lead times:

Manufacture and delivery: 45–60 Working Days from the Effective Date (it may vary depending on factory workload).
Installation: 1-2 days (typically scheduled within 1–5 days after delivery)

Working Days: Weekdays (Monday to Friday). Weekends, bank holidays, Christmas*, August*, and Easter are not regarded as working days.
*There are factory shutdown breaks in August (no production) and a couple of weeks around Christmas.
Effective Date: Date when the order enters the manufacturing queue, typically 1 week after the PO Formalisation.
PO Formalisation: Date at which the customer makes the payment to launch the manufacturing order (75% or 100% of the total amount).

Available payment options are bank transfers and debit or credit card payments.

Since the furniture is custom-made, once the Purchase Order (PO) is formalised and the manufacturing process has started, refunds of money are not possible.

We like bright smiles, and we are proud of Kubbiko’s customer service. We are here to support you; we are humans, not robots, and if something were not good for you, we would be here to help find a solution.

Product Quality and Warranties

Our products are made to a high industry standard of melamine coating applied to particleboard.
The bed frame is designed with wooden slats of natural beech, and we use BLUM hinges and runners on drawers and doors.
Our mattresses and sofas are manufactured in the UK according to applicable fire regulations.

All furniture and LED lamps come with a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
5-year warranty against operation issues with the wall bed mechanism (high-pressure pistons) and metal frame.
5-year warranty against early wear and tear of the filling, fabrics, and covers of mattresses and sofas.

Should a defect occur once the warranty has expired, we would be happy to assess the root cause of the defect and provide the best solution to help you address it.

We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal data and to treat it in accordance with the law. We do not allow our third-party service providers to use your personal data for their own purposes and only permit them to process your personal data for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions.

International Transfers

We do not transfer your personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA).

DATA SECURITY

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal information from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your personal information to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need-to-know. They will only process your personal information on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected data security breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a suspected breach where we are legally required to do so.

RIGHTS OF ACCESS, CORRECTION, ERASURE, AND RESTRICTION

Your rights in connection with personal information

Under certain circumstances, by law you have the right to:

Request access to your personal information (commonly known as a “data subject access request”). This enables you to receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you and to check that we are lawfully processing it.
Request correction of the personal information that we hold about you. This enables you to have any incomplete or inaccurate information we hold about you corrected.
Request erasure of your personal information. This enables you to ask us to delete or remove personal information where there is no good reason for us continuing to process it. You also have the right to ask us to delete or remove your personal information where you have exercised your right to object to processing (see below).
Object to processing of your personal information where we are relying on a legitimate interest (or those of a third party) and there is something about your particular situation which makes you want to object to processing on this ground. You also have the right to object where we are processing your personal information for direct marketing purposes.
Request the restriction of processing of your personal information. This enables you to ask us to suspend the processing of personal information about you, for example if you want us to establish its accuracy or the reason for processing it.
Request the transfer of your personal information to another party.

If you want to review, verify, correct or request erasure of your personal information, object to the processing of your personal data, or request that we transfer a copy of your personal information to another party, please contact our data representative (contact details below).

No fee usually required

You will not have to pay a fee to access your personal information (or to exercise any of the other rights). However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request for access is clearly unfounded or excessive. Alternatively, we may refuse to comply with the request in such circumstances.

What we may need from you

We may need to request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity and ensure your right to access the information (or to exercise any of your other rights). This is another appropriate security measure to ensure that personal information is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it.

Time limit to respond

We try to respond to all legitimate requests within one month. Occasionally it may take us longer than a month if your request is particularly complex or you have made a number of requests. In this case, we will notify you and keep you updated.

DATA PROTECTION OFFICER

We have appointed a data representative to oversee compliance with this Privacy Notice. If you have any questions about this Privacy Notice or how we handle your personal information, please contact the data representative by writing to us at our address given above.

You have the right to make a complaint at any time to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection issues.
